About the symposium：
“Greater Bay Area Cantonese Opera Transmission and Development Symposium 2022” is organised by the Research Centre for Transmission of Cantonese Opera (RCTCO) of the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), co-presented by the Xiqu Centre at the West Kowloon Cultural District and the Department of Cultural and Creative Arts, EdUHK, with the support from China Quyi Artists Association Hong Kong Member Branch. RCTCO is honored to invite scholars, Cantonese Opera artists and practitioners, and other related professionals from the sector in both local and Greater Bay Area (GBA) to our Symposium.
The Symposium explores various issues of the current situation and future development of the transmission of Cantonese opera. It aims to foster academic and cultural exchange in GBA and thus facilitate the transmission and development of the genre. During the symposium, the “GBA Cantonese Opera Development Alliance” will be formed and the “GBA Cantonese Opera Development Declaration” will be announced.
This event is funded by the Cantonese Opera Development Fund.
